Based in West Palm Beach, Florida, I bring a fresh approach to pet and equine photography, blending exceptional images with creativity, storytelling, and a dash of adventure for fun.

Hi, I'm Jill

Let’s just say right off the bat (or ball), if your dog is your favorite hiking buddy, your social media feed is filled with videos of funny dogs, or if you’ve ever felt like your dog is your soul mate, you’re in the right place. As a professional dog photographer, I specialize in capturing the spirit of your pup in a way that feels genuine, joyful, and completely unique to your bond.

I’ve always been passionate about animals, and it’s a dream come true to get to photograph them as a profession. If you’ve ever considered taking professional photos of your dog, I’m sharing everything you need to know about my dog photography services and what makes the experience so meaningful in today’s post.

Dog Photography Adventure Sessions

Why are you a dog owner (an awesome title!)? You have a dog because you love them and love having fun with them. We need to capture all that fun and happiness! My favorite way to celebrate your beloved dogs is through an adventure photography session. This is different from typical studio photography – we’ll actually travel to a location of your choice (or I can suggest a place if you need), we’ll have lots of fun, and capture some amazing memories to decorate your home or showcase many different ways.

Where can we go for dog photography adventure sessions?

Just about anywhere! For local dog owners, we can meet at any location in or around the West Palm Beach area: hikes, beach walks…For those who aren’t local to Southeast Florida, I’m happy to travel. I often have travel scheduled to Maine, North Carolina, and Kentucky, and if you live outside of those areas, we can always arrange a session with a travel fee.

Adventure photography sessions are perfect if you’re vacationing with your dog, taking them to the beach, hiking, or heading to the park to play. We could even go for a ride if you’re looking to capture the memories of a great ride together.

Adventure Sessions vs. Studio Sessions

Studio sessions are nice if you’re just looking for static photos of your dog, but they don’t show off their personality like adventure sessions do.

Here’s an example to consider – you book your dream safari in Africa and take a technically perfect shot of a lion, but isn’t it so much more exciting to get the shot of the lion with her cubs rolling around, or running at full speed?

It’s the same with a photo shoot with your dog! We can do a technically perfect studio shot, but that doesn’t really capture their personality. And it doesn’t show you having fun with them, either.

Years from now, what would you like to remember about them? I’m guessing their quirky, awesome personality and the fun you had together.

Why a Professional Dog Photographer Is Worth the Investment

Having professional photos taken of your dog in their element also means that you get to be included in the fun, rather than being stuck behind your phone’s camera.

Professional photos also make gorgeous wall art and albums that you can display around your home. Cell phone photos just can’t quite compare.

Have you ever tried to make an online photo book from cell phone camera photos, and before printing, you have red exclamation points because they’re warning you the images aren’t clear or sharp enough for printing?

That’s because cell phone cameras have smaller sensors than ‘regular” cameras, which generally leads to lower resolution images. This means you have fewer pixels to work with when you try to enlarge them. Those pixels have to stretch and cover the distance where there should be more pixels, resulting in a fuzzy image.

So basically, cell phones are good for some photos, but not for meaningful images you want to decorate with or keep in an album. My photography-loving heart dies a little bit each time I think of how many photos are kept on cell phones, never to be displayed where others can see them or where they can bring back a fun memory and a smile as you walk by them in your home or page through an album.

Why Take Professional Photos With Your Dog?

I could come up with a million reasons why you’d want to take photos with your dog, but here are a few that come to mind right away:

To Capture Authentic Memories With Them

While of course we wish dogs lived forever, photos will last a lifetime. Through an adventure session, you can capture those unscripted memories of dirty paws, happy grins, and tail wags. Document their best years or celebrate their recovery – future you will thank you. I know this as fact. I wish I had more photographs with me in it with my heart dog, Tedie, who crossed the rainbow bridge.

An adventure session allows you to have photos of your dog at their happiest self, and you alongside them.

To Celebrate Your Bond

An adventure session with your dog is lots of fun. And the shared experience and fun will deepen the bond between the two of you. Let’s freeze-frame that bond.

To Celebrate Milestones

Mark life’s chapters with your dog – your first vacation together, a post-recovery walk, birthdays, and more.

To Create Unique, Story-Driven Artwork

You can turn your adventure with your dog into art with wall-worthy, personality-packed images. Since it’s a play session, it’s a stress-free experience for your dog. They’re in their element sniffing, playing, and smiling – not feeling uncomfortable in an unfamiliar studio.

To Create Heirloom-Level Keepsakes

Your photos can be turned into wall art, albums, and framed prints that tell your story and become part of your family history.

To Elevate Your Social Media or Business’s Brand

If you’re an influencer or content creator, pet-preneur, or own an outdoorsy small business, your photos from an adventure session can double as content gold.

Common Questions About Dog Photography

Do I have to worry about posing?

No, you do not! With an adventure session with your dog, you’re simply being present with your dog, not modeling. And if you’d rather the photos be of just your dog, that’s fine too! I can edit out the leash from your photos.

What if my dog won’t behave, or is super busy, or leash reactive?

No worries at all. We can go to a quiet place, I can use long leads (edited out later), and use stress-free pacing to turn uncooperative dogs into magic!

What if we’re only in town for a short time?

Perfect! I scout the best photo-friendly locations and offer short adventure sessions designed around your trip or schedule. We can do the image reveal by Zoom, and I can dropship any product to your home or wherever you’d like after your trip.

What if my dog is too old, sick, or fragile?

Those quiet moments with older dogs are some of the most beautiful to document. We go at their pace and highlight their wisdom. I offer low-energy, gentle sessions, and optional at-home or quiet nature locations.

What It’s Like to Work With a Professional Dog Photographer

Not only do I photograph dogs, but I live with them, love them, and understand them in a way that only fellow animal lovers do. My heart dog, Tedie, just recently passed away at age 16, and Cypress, my seeing-eye dog dropout, will be 13 soon.

I love what I do, and I do it with all my heart. This isn’t just a side hobby or something I dabble in alongside other photography endeavors. It’s my whole focus, which means you can expect a session experience that feels natural and thoughtful, and photos of your beloved dogs that are worthy of their own spot on the wall or in an album that tells their story.

Whether I’m photographing your dog’s silly grin, their goofy run, or the way you connect with them, my goal is always the same: to create lasting, meaningful artwork that reflects the spirit of your dog.

You’ll walk away with:

  • A fun and relaxed session experience
  • Fine art heirlooms you’ll be proud to display
  • Photographs that celebrate the personality and presence of your beloved dog
